Wood, Gold Leaf, paper collage, acrylic
Inspired by the golden altars found in every village I visited while in Portugal, this golden "altar" questions the guilt that drives the need for all the gilt.

Multi-layered roccoco-like decorative cut-outs include tear shapes for the penitent, and shouting in relief across the central surface of the piece is the word GUILT.

Along the sides of the work is a collage of golden enticements. These include gold-foil butter and candy wrappers, golden decorative papers and images printed in gold inks.
