MOUTHWASH 1998

Painted cast paper, soap bars, vinyl letters

Inspired by the Clinton / Lewinski fiasco, an event where words-said-and-not-said became the issue, a woven paper bowl filled with bars of soap becomes a reminder of a childhood punishment for lying, as well as a metaphor for "clean living" or "coming clean". The word LIE is printed on each soap wrapper and in this game of word association could be read as a noun or a verb, or as the homonym for "lye", an ingredient used in making soap (About 12" Diameter).
